New HR Manager role created at College

The HR team support over 4000 students and 500 employees across their two sites, based just in the outskirts of Beverley, East Yorkshire and the new £24.5million Riseholme College Showground Campus.
 

You will work in partnership with a specified group of managers, to advise, coach and support them throughout the employee lifecycle in order to improve the recruitment, retention, skill level and engagement of the staff.

HR Manager

This represents a brand new role within the new HR team at the College, as part of future proofing and modernising the department.  

Salary £36,000 - £40,000 + Benefits, including 24% Employer Pension Contribution

Reporting to the HR Director / Deputy Principal, you will be responsible to:

  • As line manager, to provide leadership and management to the Human Resources Team in order to ensure that managers and staff receive appropriate support, which consistently meets or exceeds service levels.
  • Utilise data to identify trends and opportunities to develop and improve people management, development and recruitment practices and provide appropriate reports to management team meetings and College committees.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnership working with key managers, attending meetings and networking as appropriate.
  • Advise managers and staff on matters concerning employment legislation and terms and conditions of employment; and resolve problems of interpretation and application.
  • Support managers in implementing and managing organisational change and provide pro-active coaching and support to assist them. Ensure that changes are well planned and achieve the required outcomes.
  • Manage and undertake case work relating to staff discipline, grievance, redundancy, ill-health, redeployment and other HR matters, in accordance with employment legislation, our policies and procedures and good practice.
  • Work with line managers to ensure the effective performance management of staff including probationary processes for new starters takes place.  Provide advice, as necessary, and guidance when dealing with complex cases.
  • Devise, review and implement agreed areas of HR policy, procedure and practice, in consultation with others.
  • Lead and/or participate in HR projects, including equality, diversity and inclusion projects ensuring that the objectives and timescales of the projects are met.
  • Liaise constructively with recognised trade unions on employee relations matters.
  • Undertake salary reviews utilising job evaluation methodology.
  • Promote best practice in HR Management and work with managers to ensure the consistent application of HR policy and procedure throughout the College.
  • Maintain and develop personal and professional competencies in accordance with job requirements; and contribute to CPD for managers and the HR Team.
  • Participate in the delivery of staff development events, including welcome events and management briefings.
  • Comply with Data Protection requirements in all working practices and maintain confidentiality as necessary. Prepare or contribute to responses to Freedom of Information requests as necessary.
  • Fulfil equality and diversity, and Health and Safety responsibilities appropriate to the role.
  • Take part in all staff College events such as Lambing Sunday and Open Farm Sunday
